چکیده

ABSTRACT Many studies have been focused on the development of vibration source models, which comprise both the force applied on the track top and the vibration behaviour of the fixation system. Numerous researchers model the interaction between wheel and rail as a constant load moving along the track. Other authors consider a combination of harmonic and non-harmonic moving axle loads. Whereas most of these models are intended to validate time-domain vibration results, they become useless for predicting the frequency-domain vibration impact far from the track, data which is required in order to asses the fulfilment implied by most of the national regulations.

Experimental and numerical determination of transfer functions along railway tracks

Ground borne vibration in buildings due to railway traffic is a major concern in densely built up areas. In practice, railway induced vibration is often predicted by means of empirical methods such as the Detailed Vibration Assessment developed by the U.S. Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). The vibration velocity level in the free field is predicted based on a separate characterization of t...

Development of a Finite Element Methodology for Flexible Track Models in Railway Dynamics Applications

The dynamic analysis of railway vehicles involves the construction of three independent models: the vehicle model; the track model; and the wheel-rail contact model. In this work, a multibody formulation with Cartesian coordinates is used to describe the kinematic structure of the rigid bodies and joints that constitute the vehicle model. A methodology is also proposed in order to create detail...

Human response to vibration in residential environments.

This paper presents the main findings of a field survey conducted in the United Kingdom into the human response to vibration in residential environments. The main aim of this study was to derive exposure-response relationships for annoyance due to vibration from environmental sources. The sources of vibration considered in this paper are railway and construction activity. Annoyance data were co...

Measurement of ground-to-building frequency response functions for assessment of human exposure to vibration from railway vibration

The University of Salford has derived exposure-response relationships for vibration caused by railway construction and operation in residential environments. The exposure assessment methodology for almost 1000 case studies has its key factor in the measurement of synchronized ground-to-building frequency response functions (FRF). The latter is obtained by averaging the spectral content of simul...

Preliminary results on multi-body dynamic simulation of a new test rig for wheel-rail contact

The ability to perform rolling contact fatigue (RCF) experiments in wheel–rail material is provided by a new small–scale test rig, manifesting the actual dynamic behaviour of the railway system. In this paper, a multi-body dynamics (MBD) model is proposed, simulating the vibration behaviour of the prescribed rig. The new testing facility is modelled using a three-dimensional model of the vehicl...
